What do clients look for in a contractor when they choose between two or more quotations. Is it competence, speed of response or just price?

Jeff, In general, it's a mixture. It appears that Insurers and adjusters look for price... as most believe the many misleading and blatant untruths put forward by their preferred suppliers. With managed down prices and corner cutting to make profit we see contractors scrabbling for market dominance at any cost - we've seen what happens and I won't go into it here. On the positive side, there are consumers and Company's who want a standard of service and who are prepared to pay for it - and they are not few and far between. They want quality at a fair price for a fair days work - value for money and competence. It's been proven time and again that a higher investment at the start can save in the long term on the right claim.
